Canal treatment is a treatment that aims to keep the tooth in the mouth in cases where the pulp tissue on the inside of the tooth is irreversibly damaged or infected. However, not every toothache requires root canal treatment.
What symptoms should be evaluated?
Long-lasting hot-cold sensitivity, spontaneously severe pain, significant sensitivity during chewing, swelling in the gums or abscess development in the relevant area may require evaluation of the pulp and surrounding tissues.
How is the diagnosis made?
The dentist listens to the history of the complaint, performs clinical tests and uses radiological images when necessary. Correct diagnosis is important as the source of pain may sometimes come from neighboring teeth or different tissues.
Is it right to postpone treatment?
In cases of suspected infection, delay may lead to increased complaints and affecting the surrounding tissues. If there is ongoing pain or swelling, dental evaluation should not be delayed.
